So, you have been through the process of preparing to move to a new rental property or brought your new home. Both opportunities do bring both excitement & apprehension.

Moving to a new house is a laborious, time-consuming task and takes you out of your comfort zone.

Now, you are ready to move & are waiting for the moving truck.

I have moved several times in my life & I always visualise at the end of the day, me sitting on the bare floor amongst the unpacked boxes with a strong drink.

In today’s environment it is much easier to relocate, the key is an organised partner firm who can do everything, so that you have enough time to take care of your family & yourself.

Before finding that someone, prepare a list of things to do, budget for it & calculate the time in hand & then start looking for help.

People react at the last moment & make the mistake of finding anyone at the cheapest possible price. You are going through a lot of outflow of cash & you feel everyone wants your money.

Let’s think for a moment. We all pay for convenience & for that you need to spend.

Buying a new house is certainly time consuming, stressful and tiring. Anyone who has been through the process can tell you how eager they were to move into their new home the moment they took possession of the keys.  When moving a business/office, I have always asked my staff to take care of their own belongings & I also delegate one extra responsibility to them. Sharing the burden of responsibility will reduce the overall pressure on your shoulders.

Businesses usually accumulate around 20kg of waste every year, get rid of the waste before moving and save on transportation costs by not taking the clutter to your new premises.

In one project we removed 6-7 broken office chairs and quite a few unused computer screens. These were moved from the customers old office, but he was forced to act because their new office building was smaller & there was no place to keep the broken furniture.

New furniture can be delivered to your new office.

Lastly, have a list of improvements ready to comply with the ‘make good’ clause of your lease. This must be done before your lease has expired and should be completed at the time of the inspection with the property manager.
